Mr., Mrs. William McConnell observe 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. William Frank McConnell obser-ved their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 2, 2013.

They were married by the Rev. Miller at Emm-anuel Lutheran Church, Loyalsock Township.

Mrs. McConnell, the former Judy Francis Harris, is a native of Loyalsock Township. She graduated from Willia-msport Area High School in 1960. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology with a teaching certification, from Malone College, Canton, Ohio, in 1965 and master’s degree in library science from Clarion University, in 1989. She is employed by Pennsylvania College of Technology as a librarian and also as the faculty support to the schools of Health Sciences and Culinary Arts.

Mr. McConnel graduated from Jersey Shore Area High School in 1960: he received a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry and physics from Malone College in 1968. He also received a master’s degree in biology from the College of William and Mary in 1970, a doctorate degree in zoology from Penn State University in 1976 and a master’s degree in information science and academic librarianship from Drexel Univ-ersity, Philadelphia, in 1991. He was employed by Drexel University as an assistant director of administrative services at Hagerty Library and by Hahnemann University Schools of Medicine, Philadelphia, Allied Health Sciences and Graduate Sciences as an information sciences librarian.

They are the parents of a daughter, Tricia Lynn, Williamsport; and a son, Jeffrey Mark.

There are four grandchildren.

In honor of their anniversary, a dinner was held at the Herdic House.
