Mr., Mrs. William E. Curry observe 55th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. William “Bill” E. Curry, Watsontown, observed their 55th wedding anniversary May 12, 2013.

They were married by the late Rev. Clay Reed at his Muncy parsonage.

The couple are members of White Hall Baptist Church, Danville.

Mrs. Curry, the former Jean Eleanor Mingle, is a native of Muncy. She is the daughter of the late Dorothy and Charles Mingle. She graduated from North-Mont Joint High School, Turbotville, in 1954. She worked at many restaurants and was a substitute teacher’s aid for Intermediate Unit 17 and was employed by the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Pennsylvania College of Technology, in the Susquehanna Room. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Curry, a native of Revloc, is the son of the late Ruth and Elmer Curry. He graduated from Ebensburg-Cambria High School, Ebensburg, in 1950, and the former Williamsport Technical Institute, now Pennsylvania College of Technology, in 1959. He was employed at Monroe Coal Co., Revloc, before serving in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a diesel truck mechanic for the 18th combat engineers battalion in Germany after the Korean War. In 1971, he came to Williamsport Area Community College, now Penn College, where he was a diesel mechanic instructor until his retirement in 1994. After 19 years of retirement, he now is a substitute diesel instructor at Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center, Allenwood. He is a member of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County and a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

They are the parents of a son, Mark E., Stuart, Va.; and twin daughters, Michelle J. Wertman, Raleigh, N.C., and Melissa S. Curry-Ranck, Columbus, N.J.

There are two grandsons.

In honor of their anniversary, they enjoyed traveling and seeing their children and grandchildren.
