Mr., Mrs. Merlin H. Weaver observe 60th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Merlin “Smokey” H. Weaver, Loyalsock Township, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary today, Aug. 11, 2013.

They were married by Alderman William J. Mussina in Williamsport.

Mrs. Weaver, the former Helen Betty Botts, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Carrie and Leonard Botts. She retired from the American Rescue Workers.

Mr. Weaver, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Helen and Clifford Weaver. He retired from Moore’s Building Supplies and Strouse Brothers Contractors.

They are the parents of two sons, Clifford M., Williamsport, and Michael D., San Diego, Calif.; and three daughters, Sharon L. Tompkins, Williamsport, Carrie M. Peck, Montgomery, and Barbara A., Philadelphia.

There are 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In honor of their anniversary, a celebration was held Aug. 10 at Short Park.
