Mr., Mrs. John F. Haefner observe 65th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. John F. Haefner, of South Williamsport, observed their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 21, 2013.

They were married by the Rev. John P. Regan at St. Aloysius Church, Ralston. They are members of St. Lawrence Church, South Williamsport.

Mrs. Haefner, the former Emma Jane Ringler, is a native of Trout Run. She is the daughter of the late Clara (Bower) and Calvin Ringler. She served with the Marine Corps during World War II and is a homemaker.

Mr. Haefner, a native of Williamsport, is the son of the late Elizabeth (Hochreiter) and John A. Haefner. He graduated in 1940 from the former St. Mary’s High School. He served in the Army in the 42nd Infantry Division in Europe during World War II. He retired in 1984 from AT&T after 38 years of service.

They are the parents of three sons, Stephen R., of South Williamsport, Michael P., of Hughesville, and John J., of Lansdale.

There are nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In honor of their anniversary, a celebration was held by the family at the home of their granddaughter on Sept. 14.
