Mr., Mrs. James L. Hofer observe 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. James L. Hofer, of Montoursville, observed their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 25, 2013.

They were married by the Rev. Robert Lundy at Bethel United Methodist Church, the former Bethel Evangelical United Brethern Church, Montoursville.

Mrs. Hofer, the former Kitty Lou Sterner, is a native of Montoursville. She is the daughter of the late Sarah B. and Edward D. Sterner. She graduated from Montoursville High School in 1960. She graduated from Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing in 1963, received a bachelor’s degree in 1988 and a master’s degree in nursing in 1995, both in nursing from Bloomsburg University. She retired in 2006 from South Williamsport Area School District as a certified school nurse and is employed by Susquehanna Health as a part-time staff registered nurse.

Mr. Hofer, a native of Montoursville, is the son of the late R. Ruth and C. Lester (Mike) Hofer. He graduated from Montoursville High School in 1956 and served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Wine and Spirit Shoppe, South Williamsport, as assistant manager. He is employed by H&R Block as a tax professional.

They are the parents of two sons, C. David, of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Michael James, of Montoursville.

In honor of their anniversary, a trip to Outer Banks, N.C., was taken.
