Mr., Mrs. Edward Unangst observe 60th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Edward “Bud” Unangst, of South Williamsport, observed their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 26, 2013.
Mrs. Unangst, the former Joan Fenstermacher, is a native of Catawissa. She is the daughter of the late Carrie and Ross Fenstermacher. She graduated from Catawissa High School in 1948. She retired in 1995 from South Williamsport Area School District as a cafeteria supervisor after 19 years of service.
Mr. Unangst, a native of Catawissa, is the son of the late Anna and Edward R. Unangst. He received a bachelor’s degree in music from Susquehanna University in 1953 and a master’s degree from Columbia University, New York City, in 1957. He also received advanced placement credits from Bucknell University, Lewisburg. He served in the Air Force Band from 1953 to 1957 as a musician. He was employed by South Williamsport Area School District as a high school band director, was a teacher in the elementary schools and retired in 1986 as a principal.
They are the parents of two sons, Edward T. “Tom” Jr., of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Edward “Ed” R. Jr., of Minneapolis, Minn., and a daughter, Susan Cook, of Wellsboro.
There are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
