Mr., Mrs. Nagy observe 71st anniversary
Evelyn Jean (Burket) and Andrew W. Nagy Sr., of Williamsport, observed their 71st anniversary Nov. 13, 2016.
They were married by the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread at St. John’s Reformed Church.
Mrs. Nagy, a native of Shamokin, is the daughter of the late Ida Shipman and David Walter Burket. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1942 and from Easton School of Professional Nursing, Easton, in 1946. She retired from Lycoming County as the directoress of service for the aging. She served in the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps during World War II.
Mr. Nagy, a native of Trenton, New Jersey, is the son of the late Theresa and Louis Nagy. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, New Jersey, in 1937 and received a degree in tool and die making from the Williamsport Technical Institute in 1952. He retired from Wilson Corporation, Sunbury, in 1984 as a tool and die maker. He served as Master Sargeant in the U.S. Army.
They are the parents of a daughter, Lenora Lynn, of Bloomsburg; and three sons, Andrew Jr. and Thomas, of both of Montoursville; and Daniel, of Reston, Virginia.
There are eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, a family celebration was held at Vallew View Nursing Center, Montoursville.
