Mr., Mrs. Hoxie observe 70th anniversary
Pauline Vivian (Ouderkirk) and Mendelssohn Hoxie, of Jersey Shore, observed their 70th wedding anniversary Aug. 30, 2017.
They were married by the Rev. Charles N. Ouderkirk, father of the bride, in Syracuse, New York. They are members of the First United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore.
Mrs. Hoxie, a native of Minoa, New York, is the daughter of the late Norine and Rev. Charles N. Ouderkirk. She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1946 and Powelsland Business Institute in 1947, both in Syracuse. She was employed as a secretary at General Foods, Le Roy, New York, and retired in 1990 as social services director of ManorCare, Jersey Shore.
Mr. Hoxie, a native of Malone, New York, is the son of the late Mildred and Verne Hoxie. He graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1940; Syracuse University in 1949; State University of New York, Brockport, New York, in 1956; and the University of Buffalo in 1966. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was employed by the Gazette News, Le Roy; Byron-Berger Central School, New York; Pennsylvania Title III Center, Lock Haven; the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Pennsylvania College of Technology; and was the proprietor of Time and Talent Arts and Craft Store. He retired in 1984.
They are the parents of three daughters, Susan E. Mullheim, of Frankfurt, Germany; Janice L., of Avis; and Anne N., of Purcellville, Virginia.
They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In honor of their anniversary, their daughter held a party at the First United Methodist Church.
