Mr., Mrs. Willits observe 61st anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar J. Willits Sr. will observe their 61st wedding anniversary on Sept. 21, 2018.

They were married by the Rev. Ernest S. Grames in 1957 at the Roupp Family Farm in Salladasburg.

Mrs. Willits, the former Jean Roupp, was a native of Salladasburg. She is the daughter of the late Beulah and Donald Paulhamous Roupp. She attended the Jersey Shore High School. She was employed in various factories including Cobblers, Alta Products and retired from Shop Vac. She was an EMT and volunteer at both Antes Fort and Jersey Shore fire companies.

Mr. Willits, a native of Jersey Shore, is the son of the late Mae Hallett and Harry Willits. He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1954. After a tour in the Air Force, he was employed by Piper Aircraft Corp in Lock Haven, where he worked as a tool and die maker for 25 years. He retired in 1998 from Alcan Cable. He also volunteered as an EMT for both Antes Fort and Jersey Shore fire companies. Mr. Willits also held and amateur (ham radio) license, call sign AC3E.

They are the parents of four children, Edgar J. (Karen) Willits Jr, of Lock Haven; Lonnie (Candace) Willits, of Harrisburg; Cindy (Tony) Moniger, of Carlisle; and Don (Maria) Willits, of Yuma, Arizona.

There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
