Car donation makes a difference to Habitat

Gary and Deb Papay of Hughesville recently donated their 1997 Pontiac Transport Montana to Cars for Homes. A vehicle donation to Cars for Homes helps Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity build and rehabilitate houses with families in need of affordable homes.

Ana White, home development coordinator, said the car donation process is quick and easy.

“It can be accomplished online or with a toll-free phone call to Cars for Homes,” White said. “We don’t actually handle it ourselves. They take care of all of it for us. We simply receive a check.”

“We sent in the paperwork on Friday and they will be contacting us this week to pick up”, said Gary Papay.

Recycling cars saves energy and natural resources and donors may be eligible for a tax deduction.

White explained that Cars for Homes will take a car, truck, boat, RV, motorcycle, construction or farm equipment or any other vehicle running or not.
