Lions Club inducts new members

District Governor Charles “Jim” Keener was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Warrensville Area Lions Club. Keener outlined International President Wayne Madden’s theme and goals for this Lions’ year and the Reading Action Program (RAP), club assessment and club excellent programs. Clubs are asked to do a new visible community project, complete a community needs assessment and increase membership.

Keener inducted two new members into the club, Clarence “Mike” Green, sponsored by Lion Jim Pagana, and Kyle Turner, sponsored by Lion Ken Bower.

Lion Vice President Don Cohick presented Keener with a certificate stating that a brick in his name will be placed in the walk at Camp Victory.

He also presented Keener with a check to be distributed to the sponsored projects including The Art Girio Scholarship Fund, Leader Dog, Northeast Eye Bank, Hearing Research and Camp Victory. Keener presented several monarch awards to club members for their years of service.

Those members are Lion Guy Waltz 45 years; Lions Ron Hepburn, Don Hepburn and Ed Souter 30 years; and Lion Shirley Schriner 10 years.

Lion Mike Twigg was absent and will be presented with his 25 year monarch award at a future meeting.
