Taber Museum director to address Clio Club
Gary Parks, Thomas T. Taber Museum executive director will present “Taber Treasures and Teasers” at the Clio Club meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1200 Almond St.
From 1992 to 2005, Parks served in various capacities as the museum’s archivist, as the acting collections manager and as guest curator. He is a graduate of Towson University with bachelor’s degrees in biology and English, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a master’s degree in history.
Parks has worked at the Maryland Historical Society, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, Winston-Salem, N.C.; the Monmouth County Historical Association, Freehold, N.J.; and served as the director of Slifer House Museum, Lewisburg.
The author of numerous articles regarding local history published in Susquehanna Life, Parks also is the compiler of a number of genealogical indices published by Genealogical Publishing Co.
He is a graduate of Leadership Susquhanna Valley and the recipient of the Union County Historical Society Preservation Award for his efforts to maintain the alleged oldest house in Winfield, the site of the Lee Massacre.
