Library to hold book sale

Crack a book this spring at the Friends of the James V. Brown book sale on April 25, 26 and 27 at Pine Street Methodist Church.

Books of all sorts will be sold for $.50, $1 and $2, or by the bag.

Children’s books, fiction, non-fiction and reference books, including some full sets, will fill the tables for the sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 26 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27.

Friends of the James V. Brown Library may attend a preview sale from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 25 at the church.

Besides the perk of attending a preview sale, Friends of the James V. Brown have the benefit of knowing that their dues and donations, as well as proceeds from the volunteer-run Friends Favorites Bookstore, fund crucial programs at the James V. Brown Library.

Friends support many children’s programs at the library, the summer reading program, and the fall author gala held at the Williamsport Country Club.

Last year, Friends provided $43,000 in donations to the James V. Brown Library.

Friends also receive special discounts at the Friends Favorites Gently Used Books Store on the third floor of the Welch Family Wing.

Individual Friends memberships cost $20, while family memberships cost $35.

Application forms will be available at the door at the April book sale, at the Friends Favorites Book Store and on the James V. Brown website at
