Brothers earn rank of Eagle Scout
On April 21, R. Nile and Tyler Ulmer were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at St. James Lutheran Church, Pennsdale.
Nile, a senior at Montoursville Area High School, has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 88 since crossing over from Cub Scouts in 2006. He earned the Arrow of Light award while a Cub Scout and went onto earn the Den Chief Service Award. He became a member of the Woapeu Sisilija Lodge 343 Order of the Arrow and held the positions of Den Chief, Patrol Leader and Quartermaster while with Troop 88.
Tyler, a sophomore at Montoursville Area High School, has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 88 since crossing over from Cub Scouts in 2008. He also earned the Arrow of Light Award while a Cub Scout. He has held the positions of Quartermaster, Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader while with Troop 88.
For his Eagle Scout project, Nile assisted in coordinating and supervising the building and installation of a lighted informational sign for the Plunketts Creek Township Volunteer Fire Co., Barbours. He also assisted in landscaping of the property.
For his Eagle Scout project, Tyler assisted in coordinating and supervising some projects for the Central Susquehanna Sight Services in Sunbury. A shelving unit to hold file boxes was constructed as well as a shelf to hold caning material. The work room of the sight services also was painted.
Both Nile and Tyler remain active members of Troop 88. Nile soon will become an assistant Scoutmaster.
Some of their favorite activities with Troop 88 have been touring the battlefields of Gettysburg, visiting and spending the night on the Battleship New Jersey and hiking, camping and kayaking.
Nile and Tyler are the sons of Lisa and Michael Ulmer and big brothers to Colton Ulmer, all of Montoursville.
