Presentations to be held at autism support group
The Sensory and Autism Spectrum Support for Youth (SASSY) Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church, corner of Fourth and Mulberry Streets. The community is welcome to attend.
Marissa Mitchel, MS, CCC-SLP, will have a presentation about the new Geisinger Health System and Bucknell University Autism and Developmental Medicine Center (ADMI), a national model for implementing guidelines for early diagnosis, medication management and treatment options for children with developmental disorders. The presentation will include a discussion about the services that include diagnosis and treatment.
The Geisinger-Bucknell Autism and Developmental Medicine Center opened under the larger auspices of Geisinger’s Autism and Developmental Medicine Institute, a system-wide initiative of Geisinger’s Department of Research. The center will include clinical care, research and education, representing a unique partnership between Geisinger and Bucknell. This joint effort will bring together Geisinger’s neurodevelopmental pediatric specialists, psychiatry/psychology, radiology, pediatric neurology and genomic medicine with Bucknell’s academic programs in neurosciences, psychology, education, mathematics and computer sciences, providing Bucknell students and researchers the opportunity to work with Geisinger’s clinicians and scientists in a collaborative and integrated manner. The building also will house a state-of-the-art neuroimaging center.
All are welcome to attend the support group meeting. For more information contact Ana White at 506-3938.
