American Legion Post 0617 hosts golf tournament

Starting with a practice round on May 30 and continuing with the Pennsylvania American Legion Golf Tournament through June 2, the Royal P. Steinbacher, American Legion Post 0617 in South Williamsport hosted a golf tournament at White Deer Golf Course.

A reception was held at the Home Post on May 30 and following the first round on May 31, a dinner and music by DJ Steve Hunter were provided for the golfers.

Two hundred sixteen American Legion members participated in the golf tournament from areas throughout the state.

The winner of the championship Flight was Perry Nardella, from American Legion Post 470, Bath, with scores of 73-73-72.

Runner up for the championship Flight was Harry Schukraft, from American Legion Post 926, Ashton, with scores of 74-73-72.

Planning and organizing the Pennsylvania American Legion Tournament was done by Ford “Skip” Carnes, activities director and was assisted by Robert Heffelfinger, tournament assistant.
