Kiwanis Club recognizes members

On May 28, the Kiwanis Club of Jersey Shore Area presented their annual Rev. George Morton Spiritual Aims Award to Frank Bardo, recognizing Bardo’s contributions to St. John’s Evangelical Church and his community.

The award is representative of Kiwanis International’s first object: to give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life. The first award was given in 1989 to the Rev. Donald Nice and has been given each year since to deserving person(s) and-or organizations that display the attributes of the first object. The award was renamed in 1991 for the club’s first Spiritual Aims chairperson Rev. George Morton.

Attending the awards presentation were several past recipients of the award: Wanda Fox, mother-in-law of Mr. Bardo; Alice Fox, wife of Mr. Bardo; and Gloria Ely, Hazel Gohl, and Dr. Carmen Spinney. Also attending was Mr. Bardo’s daughter Susan.
