Golf tournament raises funds for Breast Health Center
The 12th annual Women’s Golf Tournament, held in early June at the Williamsport Country Club, raised more than $45,000 to enhance services at Susquehanna Health’s Kathryn Candor Lundy Breast Health Center.
This year, 102 women took part in the golf event to support the Breast Health Center and the women who have battled breast disease.
Since 2002, the women’s only Breast Health Golf Tournament, in conjunction with the annual Honoring Women Fund Drive, raised more than $500,000.
The Breast Health Center plans to acquire a 3-D mammography machine called Tomosynthesis. This latest technology will enhance the ability to detect invasive breast cancer by 40 percent. Proceeds from past tournaments assisted with the purchase of a specimen radiograph unit, ultrasound systems, biopsy devices and additional imaging equipment.
These tools help breast physicians and radiologists make the most accurate breast disease diagnoses while providing appropriate treatment for the best outcomes for their patients.
Susquehanna Health’s Kathryn Candor Lundy Breast Health Center provides a comprehensive range of breast health services including screenings and evaluations, digital mammography, breast ultrasound, minimally invasive breast biopsy, genetic testing and education.
Lymphedema management and physical therapy assessment for pain and fitness also are available. The team of specialists serving the Center includes breast surgeons, reconstructive surgeons, radiologists, breast health nurse specialists, certified mammographers, ultrasonographers and physical therapists.
