DAR to celebrate Constitution Week

Today through Sept. 23 the United States will celebrate the 226th year of the U.S. Constitution.

Mayor Gabriel J. Campana has proclaimed this week as the Williamsport recognition of the 226th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the James V. Brown Library, the Lycoming Chapter Constitution Committee members Jean Reasner, chairman; Evelyn Bastian, Nancy Coughlin and Margaret Fox will be displaying and presenting various booklets, pamphlets and children’s puzzles about the U.S. Constitution.

A DVD about the Bill of Rights, Amendments and the U.S. Constitution entitled “Just the Facts” and “A More Perfect Union” will be played continually throughout the event.

At 4 p.m. today area churches are asked to ring their church bells, along with fellow countrymen across the nation, to participate in the “Bells across American” program which signifies the beginning of the Constitution Week.
