Harnessing Hope 5K
The Board of Directors of the Team Kass Foundation will hold the Harnessing Hope 5K Run/Walk Oct. 19 at Hughesville High School. This run/walk is a 3.1 mile loop that includes a stadium finish inside of the Hughesville High School football stadium.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins promptly at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, as well as to the top male and female finishers under 13 and over 40.
There is a cost for registration per runner/walker and includes a race bib and timing chip and a race T-shirt. On-site registration is available, but a race T-shirt is not guaranteed. Before and after the race, participants are invited to stop by the “Everything Will Be Okay” Tribute Wall. The tribute wall will be dedicated in her memory.
Proceeds from this event support the Kathleen Paternostro Morgan Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in her memory and presented annually to selected graduates of Hughesville High School.
Team Kass, The Kathleen Paternostro Morgan Foundation was founded in January 2013. Its mission is to provide support to mothers facing a cancer diagnosis who have young children, to provide scholarships to deserving high school athletes who exemplify Kathleen’s values and qualities, and to keep the memory and spirit of Kathleen alive for her daughter, friends and family.
Kathleen was a 1990 graduate of Hughesville High School. A standout athlete, she played the number one singles position in girls tennis and was a starting member of the 1990 District IV championship girls basketball team. In addition to her love for sports, Kathleen had a creative spirit and was an accomplished artist. She graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1992 with a degree in food and hospitality management. Kathleen worked within the hospitality industry for 20 years, before her journey to Heaven in July 2012 at the young age of 40.
