Local non-profit plans service trips to the Dominican Republic

In January 2014 there will be two service trips to the Dominican Republic sponsored by the local organization, ACES North America.

An information session will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, at 607 Cemetery St.

ACES works with Dominican organizations to provide medical and educational support for individuals living in extreme poverty in the island nation.

Participants in the service trips will have the opportunity to work on various projects, including light construction and medical outreach programs. The trips are planned for the last two weeks of January 2014, and volunteers can sign up for one or both weeks. All expenses are the responsibility of the travelers and include funds for the planned service projects.

ACES is a non-profit which was founded locally by the owner of R.E. Smith Co., Linell Stabler. The acronym stands for Advancing Communities by Educating and Serving. Attend the meeting for further information or visit www.acesnorthamerica.org.
