Lycoming College Culinary Club to hold ‘Blazin’ for Rikky’ fundraiser

The Lycoming College Culinary Club will hold a fundraiser, “Blazin’ for Rikky,” for Williamsport area resident Rikky Foresman, a 4-year-old boy who suffers from Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. The club will sell homemade candy “buckeyes” at Lycoming’s football game against Albright. The game begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at David Person Field. Rikky will arrive around noon, but it is uncertain how long he will be able to stay.

Each year, Rikky’s father, Rik, has held a homemade candy fundraiser to raise money to help with medical expenses, but recently, the event has become so popular that he has had trouble keeping up with the demand. This year, Lycoming’s new Culinary Club stepped in and decided to help out. On Oct. 19, the group met and made about 500 peanut butter buckeyes, donating them to the cause.

The money is being raised to help Rikky receive a much-needed stem cell treatment that will help to normalize his bladder function and give him the opportunity to eventually walk.
