Clinton County dairy farm recognized for superior milk quality
ITHACA, N.Y. – Dairy One recognized Meyer Dairy Farm LLC., of Loganton, for their significant achievement in milk quality management during the Dairy One Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with the Dairylea Cooperative Inc., Dairy Farmers of America and Dairy One 2013 Joint Leadership Conference the week of Oct. 14, at the Holiday Inn, Liverpool, N.Y.
Currently milking more than 150 cows in Clinton County, new owner and operators Kent and Brian Meyer are fourth generation dairyman; however, they have owned the farm for less than four years.
According to Brian, “The secret to success is a well balanced diet and keeping the free stalls clean and dry.”
The Milk Quality Management Award Program includes all Dairy One Cooperative members and member cooperatives from across the northeast. The awards represent a considerable achievement in outstanding raw milk production. Each month, milk samples from every Dairy One member farm are tested and rated based on strict industry criteria.
