American Cancer Society’s Destiny Ball a success

The Lycoming unit of the American Cancer Society held its gala Destiny Ball at the Williamsport Country Club on Nov. 15, 2013.

The theme for gala auction and dinner dance was “Journey of Hope.”

This charity event raised more than $151,000 for the American Cancer Society, which exceeded the net goal for the event. Corporate sponsors donated $78,500, which included the Board of Ambassadors.

The live auction garnered $33,300, from bidding by the 203 attendees.

In addition, $18,300 was raised for the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodges, located in Philadelphia and Hershey.

The amount raised will pay for 122 nights at Hope Lodge for cancer patients and their families.

Bidding also raised $6,600 for pediatric cancer research.

Barbara Lytle, Destiny Ball honoree and cancer survivor, was the guest speaker.

Joe and Barbara Reynolds were co-chairs for the event.
