Books and Boyds bear signing to benefit PACFI

MILTON – Author Pat Robbins and “Burke’s Tour” author, Bob Derr, will team up to do a books-and-bear-signing to benefit Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis, Inc. (PACFI).

The event is from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and will be held at the Central PA Chamber of Commerce building, 30 Lawton Lane.

Both authors will sign copies of their books and Derr will be signing the new Boyds by Enesco collector’s edition of Burke P. Bear, named after his son who died due to cystic fibrosis (CF) in 1997. The signing will be the first introduction of the special Burke P. Bear in the area.

“We are honored to have Pat and her husband, Jeff, join with us in this fundraiser,” Derr said, “and we look forward to continuing the search for a long term beneficial treatment or a cure for CF.” Burke P. Bear just finished his United States tour and since 1997 the acclaimed “Globe-Trotting Ambassador of Love” has visited all 50 states and 23 world countries in helping to raise over $535,000 for CF research.

Robbins wrote “In the Morning Light” which is a memoir about her identical twin daughters who both had cystic fibrosis (CF).

She dedicated her book to her daughters “for all the love and joy we shared in this life that now resides deep in my heart. You taught your dad and me what courage is and how to be thankful for each and every day.”

Daughters Charlotte and Vanessa died four months apart – Charlotte in November of 1999 and Vanessa in March of 2000. Robbins also dedicated her book “to Jeff, my husband, lover and friend, for his strength, wisdom and enduring love.’ Her book is an inspirational story of twins who followed their dreams and lived fulfilling lives despite the rigors of CF.

PACFI is an independent, nonprofit, all volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that provides services and supports for PA families affected by CF and annually allocates funds for CF research.
