Third Clinton County Mom Prom to be held April 26

MILL?HALL – The third annual Clinton County Mom Prom, the first of its kind in the area, will be held April 26 at Haywood’s on the Green, 43 Fairway View Drive. Mom Prom is an event for women only, but one doesn’t have to be a mom to attend. Tickets are on sale and all proceeds from tickets and silent auction items at the event will benefit The Life Center and Be Wise Campaign.

“We started doing Mom Prom because we wanted to help the Life Center get up and running while having a great time,” said committee member Tracie Christensen. “As moms, we really wanted to make a difference in the lives of our kids and the work that Be Wise is doing to help prevent prescription drug abuse in our local youth is so vital.”

Fellow committee member Brooke Fravel said,, “Last year we raised $10,000 in one night thanks to the generosity of our corporate sponsors and the ladies who attended the fun.” Mom Prom attendees are encouraged to dress up, either in their favorite party dress or in their least favorite formalwear.

“This is when the really bad bridesmaid dresses get to hit the dance floor one more time,” said Christensen.

Whether one comes dressed “to the nines” or even in costume, the point is to have fun. There is a theme every year, but attendees are not required to stick to it.

“This year, we’re taking everyone to FunkyTown,” said Jackie Brown, committee member. “Think 1970s, disco-glamorous, Studio 54, ‘American Hustle’-style. We’d love to see a few sequined pantsuits, platform shoes and some serious Farrah Fawcett hair.”

Tickets will be available from any Mom Prom committee member and details will be announced on Facebook. The committee, known as “The Women of Clinton County,” includes Christensen, Fravel, Brown, Lori Gunsallus, Mary Lins and Joni Macintyre. Corporate sponsors are needed as well as donated items for the silent auction. Volunteers also are needed. For more information or to make a donation, contact Brown at 570-748-6791 or
