American Cancer Society to hold ‘Pawsome Pal’ writing contest
Children in grades kindergarten through fifth are encouraged to submit their essays to the Pawsome Pal writing contest. In 100 words or less, writers should explain why their dog is a special member of the family.
All entries must be original work by the child, be printed on 8 1/2-by-11-inch lined paper or typed and have a title. Parents of young writers may type their child’s story for them.
Categories for the contest are:
Grades kindergarten and first.
Grades two and three.
Grades four and five.
Entries are due by April 14 and must include name, grade, parents’ names and telephone number or email address.
Entries will not be returned.
Entries may be emailed to Ellen Bokeko at firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Winners will be announced at the Bark For Life event on April 27.
One prize will be awarded in each category. All entrants will receive a certificate of participation and recognition at the Bark For Life.
