Salvation Army participating in challenge to fight hunger

The Salvation Army is participating in the Feinstein Foundation challenge through the end of April.

This is the 17th year that Alan Feinstein will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide to help them raise funds.

For every food item that is collected now through April 30, the Salvation Army will count $1 per item or pound as well as every check, cash contribution or pledge.

Contributors will help in two ways – by the food or money donated and as a match for what Feinstein will add to it.

“Whatever you donate to this agency, I will add money to it. The more you give, the more of my $1 million they will get – thanks to you,” said Feinstein.

Donations can be made as an individual or by running a food drive as a group, business, organization, school or church and it will be counted towards the Feinstein Challenge.

Food donations are accepted at The Salvation Army, 457 Market St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
