Bear and book signing to benefit PACFI

Bob Derr will be at Kern Run Crafts in Beavertown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to sign the 2014 collector’s edition of the Boyds by Enesco Burke P. Bear that was named after his son, Burke, who died due to cystic fibrosis (CF) in 1997. Derr also will have signed copies of his book, “Burke’s Tour,” that was published in 2007. All proceeds will benefit Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis Inc. (PACFI).

“It’s national CF Awareness Month,” Derr said, “And we know our Burke is proud of the efforts PACFI is making to help others and to find a beneficial treatment or a cure for CF.”

Burke P. Bear finished a tour of all 50 states earlier this year on a journey to create a wider awareness of CF and to raise funds for research. Since 1997, the bear has also toured 23 countries and two Canadian provinces, raising more than $535,000 for research.

PACFI is an independent, nonprofit all volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that provides supports and services for Pennsylvania citizens affected by CF and funds some of the most progressive CF research in the nation.
