SPCA holds ‘Pawtraits’ pet calendar photo contest
The Lycoming County Soceity for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is hosting its annual “Pawtraits Pet Calendar Photo Contest.”
The contest is a fundraiser in which any domestic animal may be entered. The contest runs until 2 p.m. Monday.
All photos will appear as a thumbnail photo in the 2015 calendar, while the top 12 fundraisers will be prominently featured with a month all to themselves.
The photo that raises the most donations will be named the grand prize winner and will appear on the cover of the calendar.
Winners of the contest will be announced at the ninth annual Pet Expo, held at Indian Park in Montoursville June 1.
This year, school-age children residing in Lycoming County have an opportunity to have their original poetry published in the calendar.
“What I love about my pet” is the subject for the submissions, all of which will be published on the Lycoming County SPCA website and Facebook page.
Twelve of the poems will be highlighted in the printed calendar. The free selection process will be overseen by the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, SPCA staff, teachers from the Williamsport Area School District and children’s librarians from the James V. Brown Library.
Poem entry forms may be picked up at the SPCA or downloaded from the SPCA website or Facebook page. Poetry may be submitted through July 1.
Entry forms are available at Lycoming County SPCA, www.lycomingspca.org, or at the Contest Display at the Lycoming Mall through Monday.
