Union County library to hold quilting event

LEWISBURG – The Public Library for Union County will hold “Quilts Have Stories” with Kristen Marrow at 7 p.m. May 22 at the library, 255 Reitz Blvd.

Quilts can be a design piece and-or a commemorative work of art. The commemorative quilt is made from commemorative fabrics such as T-shirts, a wedding dress, baby clothes etc. The memories contained in a commemorative quilt are extremely meaningful as is the process of making a commemorative quilt.

Morrow has been creating heirloom quilts for 25 years. She has extensive experience in quilt restoration as well as quilt making. She has made more than 200 quilts and has serviced more than 100. Marrow has restored quilts dating back to the 19th century and has done repair works on all types of quilts. It gives her great joy to bring a vintage quilt top back to life by finishing it according to the era in which it was made.
