Beta Sigma Phi recaps events

Alpha Rho Master of Beta Sigma Phi has participated in a number of events for 2014. Donations were given to Daniel’s Closet, St. Anthony’s Center and the James V. Brown Library. The group also provided Easter baskets for two families and boxes were sent to Army troops.

In February, Barbara Wascher held a meeting on Elder law. Christine Fry hosted a luncheon at the Moon and Raven Public House, then a movie at the Cinema Center.

In March, Pat Sydock hosted a tureen dinner and election of officers for 2014 and 2015 were held. Officers are: Judy McCormick, president; Connie Vogel, vice president; Pat Sydock, secretary; Judy Pillot, treasurer; Fran Pfaff, corresponding secretary; and Sylvia Miller, telephone chairman.

In April, Judy McCormick hosted a meeting at an Amish farm where members could plant flowers in containers. A social was held at the Community Theatre League with the “Alone Together Again” play. A meeting was held at the home of Carol Harvey with the installation of officers and the Golden Circle Ritual to mark 50 years of membership in Beta Sigma Phi to Sylvia Miller.

In May, a yard sale was held at the home of Susan Baker. A donation was given to Lauren Taylor, a student at Penn State University, who is studying music for six weeks in Vienna, Austria.

A spring fling joint meeting with Xi Epsilon Tau, of South Williamsport, was held May 14. Charles Getchell entertained with musical bells.

On May 28, a Founder’s Day dinner was held at the Wheel Inn. A picnic is planned by Nancy Storms, Judy Pillot and Pat Sydock at Susquehanna State Park for July 13.
