Warrior Run Women’s Club awards ‘Bike-Hike’ prizes

The Warrior Run Women’s Club reports that 54 registered riders and walkers traveled 650 miles and raised $3,600 for their education projects.

The club uses the funds for their distribution of books to elementary children in the Warrior Run School District through the Reading Is Fundamental program.

Pre-schoolers are also given a book through the One Book Every Child program. The club also awards three scholarships to high school seniors, sponsors a student to the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference, has an event at the community library for children each year and holds an arts contest in the school.

The grand prize winner for raising the most money is a bicycle from Dave’s Bike Shop in McEwensville and was awarded to McKenzie Watts who raised a total of $560. Lillian Chronister took the first place prize of tickets for Knoebel’s Grove and Jake Rohm was second place winner of eight hours at Bounceplex plus a Pizza Hut certificate.

Third and fourth places were tied by Lindsay and Tyler Miller who received a pool party at the Exchange pool plus movie tickets and a gift certificate for Just Vittles outside Turbotville.

Colby Kessler received a gift for Hoopla’s for fifth place; Christian English was awarded the sixth place prize of a 12-pack of tickets for a Crosscutters game and cash, and Colton Pentycofe received four tickets to Reptiland and a pizza from Weaver’s in Allenwood for seventh place.

Wal-Mart gift cards were distributed for those who traveled the most miles in five age groups: Jackson Marr in the 1-5 bracket rode 12 miles; Teagan Hagenbuch in the 6-8 group rode 28 miles; Caden Dufrene and Colton Pentycofe each rode 36 miles in the 9-11 age group; Amber Pentycofe rode 36 miles in the 12-14 bracket, and Kyle Blanchard rode 12 miles to win the 15 and up group.
