Bucknell University to hold fall extension gardening workshop
LEWISBURG – Lewisburg Community Garden will hold a fall extension gardening workshop at 7 p.m. July 31 at the Public Library of Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd.
The workshop is free and open to the public, and registration is not required.
Bucknell biology professor Mark Spiro will cover a variety of topics including cold hardy crops, using row cover and cold frames, and best practices for fall gardening.
The workshop is part of a continuing monthly workshop series offered by the Lewisburg Community Garden and the Public Library of Union County. A different gardening workshop will be offered each month through September.
A joint project between Bucknell University and the Borough of Lewisburg, the Lewisburg Community Garden is located on the corner of North Water and Saint Anthony’s streets.
The garden features individual plots for groups, families or individuals interested in gardening as well as a larger area worked by student and community volunteers to provide produce for local hot meal programs and other food programs.
