Muncy graduate receives Girls Scout scholarship

PENNSDALE – Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) has announced that Natalie Elaine Irene Lamoreaux, of Pennsdale, has received The Graduating Senior Scholarship in the amount of $1,250 for continued education on June 21 at the 2014 Gold Award Ceremony at Milton Hershey High School, Hershey.

Lamoreaux was chosen for the scholarship in recognition for her high level of academic achievement and outstanding successful track record as a Girl Scout.

One particular example of her success as a Girl Scout was her 2010 Silver Award, which was a day-long event called Girls Fund Day Out that had over 100 participants. She is currently working on completing her Gold Award for 2015.

“We believe that the combination of success in school, coupled with a robust leadership experience in the Girl Scouts, positions these girls to accomplish great things in the future,” said Jane Ransom, CEO of GSHPA.

Lamoreaux has been a Girl Scout for 13 years and has been active student in her high school. She is involved with National Honor Society, Student Council, Penn College Youth Leadership, softball, and soccer.

Lamoreaux plans to attend Messiah College’s health and exercise program and will pursue a degree in physical therapy.

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania has provided scholarships since its inception in 2007.

“GSHPA is excited to see our scholarships help launch our Girl Scouts to a new level of their development into young women of distinction,” said Ransom.
