Daniel Adams receives Eagle Scout award
WATSONTOWN – Daniel M. Adams, of Watsontown, was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout rank on May 31. The court of honor ceremony took place at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury. Adams is the son of Kathy and Mark Adams, of Watsontown.
Special recognition was given to Adams by the offices of Rep. Lynda Schlegel-Culver and Congressman Tom Marino, the Sons of Union Veterans of Civil War Gobin Camp No. 503, American Legion Post No. 323 of Watsontown, Northumberland County Commissioners and the Warrior Run School Board.
Adams’ Eagle Scout leadership service project benefited the American Legion Post No. 323 Veterans’ Memorial Park, Watsontown. Improvements were made to the park to include painting a 60-foot flagpole, building and installing a commercial-grade picnic table with concrete pad and also performing some minor landscaping.
Adams is a long-time member of Boy Scout Troop No. 342 of Northumberland. He started his 12-year Scouting career with Cub Scout Pack No. 3342 of Northumberland when he was in first grade in 2002.
Highlights of his Scouting career include earning 41 merit badges; holding the positions of assistant patrol leader and Order of the Arrow representative; attending the 2010 National BSA Jamboree, Philmont Scout Ranch and Florida Seabase high adventure treks; attaining Brotherhood Member Order of the Arrow Woapeu Sisilija Lodge No. 343; completing national leadership and peer development trainings; and attaining Arrow of Light and God and Country awards.
Adams graduated from Warrior Run High School, Turbotville, this year, and was an active participant in soccer, basketball, track, concert choir and spring musical. He was a member of his church youth group and employed by the YMCA as a lifeguard. He plans to study biology at Slippery Rock University.
