Library to host Constitution Week event on Sept. 17
The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., will host the Lycoming Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution for a display celebrating the 227th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
From 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17, various booklets, pamphlets and puzzle activities about the framers and the Constitution, the Civil War and the American flag will be available. The DVD, “A More Perfect Union: America Becomes a Nation,” will be shown throughout the day in recognition of Constitution Week.
Participating in this week-long celebration is just one way the library encourages civil and social literacy through the statewide initiative of PA Forward, which envisions a place where citizens have the knowledge and skills they need to improve their lives, to participate and contribute effectively to their communities and to connect with one another through discourse.
The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 24/7 at www.jvbrown.edu.
