Hughesville Public Library to hold December events

HUGHESVILLE — The Hughesviille Public Libr ­ary, 146 S. Fifth St., will hold the following events and activities in the month of December.

•Wee Tales — 10:30-11:15 a.m. Dec. 5, 12 and 19. For children ages 12 months to 3 1/2 years and their caregivers. Join Miss Victoria and her guitar for a rollicking, busy morning. Siblings are welcome. Registration is required.

•Preschool storytime — 10:30-11:15 a.m. Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23. For children ages 3-6 years old and their caregivers. Sing songs, hear stories, make crafts or do an open-ended art activity with Miss Victoria. The program will help children hone skills they will need for school. Siblings are welcome. Registration is required.

•Wee make music — 10:20-11:15 a.m. Dec 1, 8, 15 and 22. For children ages 18 months to 3 1/2 years  old and their caregivers. A “progressive” music and movement activity designed for busy children. The event includes Miss Victoria’s guitar sing-along and the exploration of simple percussion instruments. The activity encourages toddlers to express their natrural love of motion, music and rhythm, as well as promotes the development of children’s socio-emotional and motor skills. Siblings are welcome. Registration is required.

•Busy bee art — 10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 6. For children ages 18 months to 3 1/2 years old and their caregivers. This is a station-based art exploration activity featuring developmentally appropriate art materials. The program encourages children’s decision-making and promotes the building of socio-emotional, vocabulary skills and motor skills. Siblings are welcome. Registration is required.

•Make a Christmas ornament — 2-5 p.m., Dec. 3. For elementary school children or older. All materials are provided. Registration is required.

•All together family storytime — 11-11:30 a..m., Dec. 10. Registration is required.

•A Polar Express Saturday — 11-11:45 a.m. Dec. 17. Families are invited to hear the classic picture book “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg read aloud and to make a holiday craft.

Attendees can return to the library at 7 p.m. to watch “The Polar Express” movie. Registration is required.
