Accountant to present 2016 Tax Prep Workshop at library
A local Certified Public Accountant will present a free 2016 tax preparation workshop on Wednesday at the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St.
Harold Eck, who has 30 years of experience as a CPA and director of finance for local businesses, will present the program. He will show participants how to prepare for the completion of your 2016 1040 individual income tax return, including:
• Documentation requirements
• What is new for 2016
• Affordable Care Act (health insurance) requirements for individuals
• Retirement account contributions
• Itemized and standard deductions
• Deductions and credits for higher education
• Child and dependent care credits
• Earned Income Tax Credit
• And other credits available to individuals
A question and answer session will follow the presentation. Tax organizers, brochures and informational documents will be available for free to all attendees.
Eck operates a public accounting practice, Harold Eck, CPA and The Cyber CFO, providing virtual CFO and Controller financial reporting, and business and individual income tax services to family owned businesses.
He holds an associate degree from Williamsport Area Community College, now Pennsylvania College of Technology, a bachelor’s degree from Grove City College, and a master’s degree in business administration degree from Clarion University.
He is a graduate of Leadership Lycoming, sits on the board of trustees of the Jersey Shore Public Library, is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society and the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce.
