Achieve your New Year’s goals with the help of the library
On January 1, many Americans say their New Year’s Resolutions include getting fit, losing weight and being more active. But how do you achieve those goals and where do you start?
Stop by the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., on Saturday, for the library’s first-ever Fitness Expo from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will feature local fitness and weight loss clubs, businesses and organizations who will highlight what programs Williamsport has to offer and fitness ideas that may be new to you.
Some of the participating organizations include River Valley YMCA, Fitness Factory, Shotokan of Williamsport, Susquehanna Valley Velo Club, Alpine Club of Williamsport and Beach Body, to name a few. The event also will include demonstrations, screenings and door prizes.
This event supports the PA Forward state initiative by providing social and health literacy opportunities for learning and highlighting the transformative nature of public libraries within a community. The Brown Library is part of a national effort to increase awareness of the changing role of libraries and the ways in which libraries are transforming to meet the health needs of their users. When Pennsylvania residents are empowered to make healthier choices, they can manage their family’s well-being to live longer, more productive lives.
