Hughesville Area Public Library to hold February events

HUGHESVILLE — The Hughesville Area Public Library, 146 S. Fifth St., will hold the following events and activities in February.

• Busy Bee Art Club — 10:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 10. Station based art exploration activity for children ages 18 months to 3 1/2 years old and their caregivers. Children will explore age-appropriate art materials and develop motor, socio, emotional and language skills. Registration is required.

• Wee Tales — 10:30-11:15 a.m. Feb. 13, 20 and 27. For children ages 12 months to 3 1/2 years and their caregivers. Attendees will sing songs with Miss Victoria and Daisy the dog, dance, share books and play with toys. The program will develop children’s socio and emotional skills, fine and gross motor skills and language and math skills. Registration is required.

• Wee Make Music — 10:30-11:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 and 23. For children ages 18 months to 3 1/2 years and their caregivers. The event will include sining, dancing, drumming and marching with Miss Victoria. The program will develop children’s socio and emotional skills and fine and gross motor skills. Registration is required.

• Preschool Storytime — 10:30-11:15 a.m. Feb. 3, 17 and 24. For children ages 3-6 and their caregivers. Attendees will sing with Miss Victoria, hear her favorite books read aloud, make a craft and explore open-ended art activities. The program will develop children’s school skills, such as sitting still, listening, following directions and cutting with scissors. Registration is required.

• All Together Storytime — 11-11:30 a.m. Feb. 11. Attendees will sing with Miss Victoria and hear her favorite books read aloud.

• Make a Valentine craft — 1-2 p.m. Feb. 11. For children ages 5 and up. Registration is required.

• Wee Play — 10:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 14, 21 and 28. For children ages 3-6 years old and their caregivers. Attendees will explore learning toys with Miss Amber during this station-based activity that will expand a pre-schooler’s creativity levels and language skills. Registration is required.

West End Library to hold February events

LAURELTON — The West End Library, 45 Ballpark Road, will hold the following events and activities in the month of February.

Adult and teen programs

• West End Readers — 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Attendees will discuss books from the romance genre. Registration is required.

• West End Crafters — 1 p.m. Feb. 10 and 24. Color, craft, knit, crochet, quilt, sew or learn a new craft. The event is open to individuals of all abilities.

• Audio and video streaming — 6 p.m. Feb. 13. Jeff Seebold, technology training services coordinator, will explain the pros and cons of the streaming services available to help attendees find the best service for them. He will also highlight good websites for audio and video streaming. Registration is required.

• Social games: Cards and Chess — 1 p.m. Feb. 17. Attendees will play card games and chess. They can bring their lunch. Registration is required.

Children’s programs

• Discover — 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. For children up to age 5 and a parent or grandparent. This event is a preschool story time which includes a weekly theme with read-aloud stories, age-appropriate activities and crafts, musical instruments and songs. Adults will be offered a take-home paper with theme-related crafts, rhymes, snacks and “getting ready for kindergarten” activities. Registration is required.

• West End Homeschoolers — 1 p.m. Friday. For anyone currently homeschooling or interested in gaining more information on getting started. Participants are encouraged to attend as their schedules permit.

• Valentine’s Day fun — 10 a.m. Feb. 11. Attendees will make a craft, share a snack and watch a movie. Registration is required.
