Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild to hold meeting

MIFFLINBURG — The Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Masonic Lodge, 361 Chestnut St. Social time will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Julie Richie, president, will present “For the Love of Cotton.” The presentation will teach members how to spin cotton and where cotton can be found.

The meeting is open to the public.

Senior Sweetheart Day to be held

MUNCY — The Eastern Lycoming Branch YMCA and Home Instead Senior Care will hold Senior  “Fundamentals for Success” Sweetheart Day at 11 a.m. Feb. 13 at the Eastern Lycoming Branch YMCA, 50 Fitness Drive. Kathy Veniors will present “Understanding Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias” family education seminar.

Attendees will learn to recognize the cognitive and behavioral symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementias, offer tips and techniques to help minimize symptoms and tips to help encourage loved ones to engage in meaninful activities.

Refreshments will be provided.

Milton Historical Society to host

Milton’s Bicentennial Banquet

MILTON — The Milton Historical Society will host the Bicentennial Banquet at 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at St. Joseph Parish Center, Cemetery Road.

Cocktails and jazz performed by Burgess, Mitchell and Stetz will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner, Bicentennial program and dancing to Milltown Blues to follow.

Menu choices will include chicken roasted with apricot-glazed parsnips and plums, pork cutlets with a double-smoked maple bacon glaze and lasagna filled with a four cheese and spinach blend baked in a bechamel sauce. Complimentary beer and wine will be available.

The banquet is open to the public.

Proceeds will benefit the bicentennial parade.

There is a cost for tickets. Registration is required by Feb. 17.
