Save or spend: Benefit Cosmetics mascara
Expensive makeup can be the greatest investment or the biggest waste of cash.
When spending $45 on an eyeshadow palette, I want them to be the best shadows I have ever used in my lifetime.
Save or spend is going to be a topic where I talk about a high end product, whether it is worth the splurge and if there is a drugstore option that works just as well.
I am a mascara junkie. When I put on mascara, I want the product to make my jaw drop with how amazing my lashes look, especially if I am spending a good chunk of change on it.
Benefit Cosmetics has a line of three different mascaras that have been talked about in the beauty community for ages. Each one does something different for the lashes and they all are on the pricier side.
There is the BADgal Lash Volumizing, They’re Real! Lash Lengthening and Roller Lash Super Curling and Lifting. Two of these I love and one I hate.
My favorite of the bunch is the They’re Real! mascara in black. It has a synthetic brush with a spikey ball at the end of the wand, which looks scary, but it’s amazing.
Having the ball at the end allows you to coat even the smallest lash with the incredibly pigmented product. It makes your lashes look dark and dramatic like an episode of “Stranger Things.”
It gives your eyelashes volume, length and separation with no clumps.
The formula dries quickly, which is the only negative attribute I can give the product.
For me, it is one of my favorite mascaras that I own.
Roller Lash gives a more natural look to the lashes, but it still packs quite a punch.
The brush is curved to help push up the lashes so they curl and the plastic bristles are short. If you have short, straight lashes like I do, then this mascara really can give them lift and length.
What really blew me away was how it looked on my bottom lashes, that was when this product stole my heart. Instead of clumping them to make it look like I have five eyelashes, it gives each lash its own time to shine with length and separation.
There are other more affordable mascaras that have a curved brush but some are quite clumpy or make the lashes too natural looking for my preference.
One that is very close to the Roller Lash is the Maybelline Lash Sensational. The main difference I have experienced is the Maybelline one adds a bit more volume than the Benefit one.
The final mascara is BADgal which is one of my friend’s ride or die favorite, but, I absolutely regret buying this. If you love it, great but I do not think it does anything for my eyelashes.
It was my first high end mascara that I bought. I tried it on and was confused why it was not the best product I ever put on my eyes since I spent so much on it.
It looked so natural on my eyes, there really was not much volume going on at all. If I pay a lot of money on my makeup, I want it to be better than one I can get at Target.
If you are looking for a mascara that is going to give you volume beyond your wildest dreams, check out the L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen mascara. It has been my favorite drugstore mascara for years.
Just because something is expensive, does not mean that its quality is better than one you can pick up at the grocery store. But in other instances, it can be exactly what you have been looking for in your makeup wearing life.
