Brown Library offers proctoring services

With the rise in online learning courses at colleges and universities, there is a need for students to take proctored exams in a supervised setting. As a service to the community, the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., offers proctoring services to aid students in meeting their education goals.

Students participating in distance learning programs or correspondence degree programs and professionals who require testing to receive certification in their field can arrange to have their exams proctored at the library.

Test-proctoring services are offered to students by appointment only and must be scheduled two weeks in advance. Students must have photo identification.

There is a fee for each exam, and fees must be paid at the Information Service desk prior to taking the exam. Additionally, the library offers photographic services for employment or school identification cards for a fee.

The library proctors both online and written exams. If the exam is written, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain the needed signatures and arrange for the test to be delivered directly to the library. Information Services staff will contact the student when the exam has arrived to schedule a test date.

All written exams will be returned directly to the testing institution via the U.S. Postal Service.

Allow for seven to 10 days for delivery. If the student requires return by UPS or FedEx, they must also provide a postage-paid envelope to the library.

To arrange proctoring, contact Alex Hartmann at ahartmann@ jvbrown.edu or 570-326-0536, ext. 139.
