American Cancer Society helps patients cope with hair loss
Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis and the hair loss associated with some cancer treatments can be devastating. According to a recent study, nearly 60 percent of women consider hair loss the most dreaded side effect they face when undergoing chemotherapy.
At American Cancer Society wig sites, any woman who is experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment can receive a free, brand-new wig. The American Cancer Society office in Williamsport is in need of volunteers to help women select a wig. No experience necessary, volunteers will receive training. Appointments are scheduled to meet the needs of the volunteer and patient.
For more information on volunteering at our wig site call Jan Ulmer at 570-326-5013 or email at jan.ulmer@cancer.org.
