Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library to hold March events

McEWENSVILLE — The Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library, 20 Church St., will hold the following events and activities in March:

Celtic coloring contest — All month long. Choose your design from a series of pages available at the front desk. Use materials and techniques of your choice and return completed page for display. Contest winner will be selected March 24.

• Bridge is back! — 1:30 p.m. Mondays. This class if for beginners.

• Books for babies — 10 a.m. Tuesdays.

• Pre-K read and play — 11 a.m. Tuesdays.

• Adult coloring — 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Cindy Batdorf will lead beginners and enthusiasts in coloring exercisers using different tools and techniques. Participants will learn to shade and highlight, use online websites to find cool pages and know where and how to buy good products.

• Quilting — 6 p.m. Thursdays.

• 0-K read and play — 11 a.m. Fridays.

• Gadget help — noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

• March Madness — March 12. Pick up and fill out a bracket on Selection Sunday. The library will be broadcasting the tournament.

• Book Club — 7 p.m. March 13. This month’s selection is “Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Gray.”

• Card making — 6 p.m. March 20.

• Legos — March 25.

• Pampered Chef Bingo — 12:30 p.m. March 26 at the Turbotville Community Hall, Turbotville. Doors and kitchen open at 12:30 p.m. There will be 20 games, early bird at 1:30 p.m. and specials extra. Reservations are required by March 25. Reservations can be made at 570-538-1381.

• Knitting — 6 p.m. March 27.

DuBoistown Garden Club to hold meeting

The DuBoistown Garden Club will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Church hall, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport. The program “Spring Arrangements and Pussy Willows” will be presented by Rosemary Holmes, florist and designer and former owner of Nevill’s Flowers.

Hostesses for the event will be Barbara Barnes and Jeanne Moulton, co-chairwomen. Committee members are Linda Barnes, Suzanne Brush, Nancy Hennigan, Gina Hennigan, Rita Lane, Susan Mahoney, Joyce Schramm and Joyce Wenner.

Lycoming County Historial Society kicks off lecture series

The Lycoming County Historical Society will kick off their lecture series at a coffee hour at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Community Room of the Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth St.

Wayne Welshans will present a lecture on his book, “Jersey Shore,” produced by Arcadia Publishers, as well as three books on the Nippenose Valley. He received a bachelor’s degree from the former Lock Haven State Teacher’s College and a master’s degree in zoology from the University of New Hampshire. He taught honors biology at Williamsport Area High School for 29 years and retired in 1995. He serves on the board of directors of the Jersey Shore Historical Society and is a member of the Taber Museum.

Light refreshments will be served and the lecture is open to the public.
