Hop into spring makeup

Blooming flowers, seasonal allergies and stinging wasps can only mean that spring has finally arrived.

With the temperatures rising, it is nice to create fresh looks with less makeup. Using fewer products means there is less to sweat off when you drive in your car that does not have air conditioning.

In mild weather, wearing a light to medium coverage foundation or BB cream that has SPF is excellent for when the sun is shining down from outer space.

The IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC Cream has an SPF of 50, has vitamins to improve skin and hyaluronic acid to hydrate. The downsides are there is a very limited shade range and it is quite pricey.

Down the aisle at Kmart, the Wet n Wild BB Cream has an SPF of 15.

I have been using this for a few months and have really come to enjoy it. You can apply it with your fingers or you can use a foundation brush to increase the coverage. Forget using a beauty sponge, it sucks up all of the product.

It may not provide as much sun protection as the IT Cosmetics one but it still evens and brightens your skin tone.

Instead of layering on loads of concealer, using a color corrector underneath foundation can cancel out skin discoloration.

The blue tones under the eyes can be corrected with a peach color and red is canceled out with green.

The Hard Candy Color Correctors in green and peach are inexpensive and do the trick.

For brows using a tinted brow mascara or filling them in with a pencil such as the LA Girl Shady Slim Brow pencil can give a natural look.

Bronzing up the face is great when it is warm out and it gives the appearance that you don’t play The Sims inside all day but rather spend time frolicking in the sun. Hula bronzer by Benefit is great, it comes in light and medium shades.

Unless you look dead without blush, in warmer weather this step can be skipped. For me, I don’t think highlight is necessary either because you’ll already be glowing from your own sweat.

Wearing waterproof mascara can be difficult to get off but if water sports are part of your life, investing in a quality mascara is important. The CoverGirl Clump Crusher waterproof is a natural looking product that stays on through the afternoon at the pool.

Opting for a brown eyeliner rather than black can give a more natural look for springtime. I love the Physician’s Formula Lash Boosting Eyeliner.

Eyeshadow colors are up to your personal preference. Trying out pink and peach tones are fun but going for a more natural look is great too.

Picking up a nice peach color gloss keeps lips hydrated and does not melt all over your mouth. The Nyx Cosmetics Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel is wonderful for warmer weather.

With the increased heat, setting your makeup is essential. The Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is a cult classic for a reason. It locks your entire face into place.

Being safe in the sun is important, take it from a redhead. Use sunblock and wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays.
