• Susquehanna Valley CASA is seeking volunteers in Lycoming, Union, Snyder and North­umberland counties. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system and to aid in ensuring each child thrives in a safe, nurturing and permanent home. They assist the courts through objective investigation observation and comprehensive reporting

• The Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) is planning a bus trip to attend the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall Dec. 4. There is a cost for reservations, which are required by June 2. There will be additional costs for the show and bus.

The trip will include a McDonald’s breakfast stop in Danville and time of your own in New York City.

• CAMMAL — A Pine Creek Artisans show and sale will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at 145 Railroad St.

Local works includes paintings, photos, jewelry, fiber art, gift baskets and more.

• The annual Civil War soldiers Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the Wildwood Cemetery GAR Circle.

The ceremony will be conducted by members of the 11th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, N-SSA, in uniform.

The ceremony will last 45 minutes and include commemorative cannon firing.

Spectators may bring lawn chairs. Attendees should not park around the circle.

• HUGHESVILLE — The Hughesville Area Public Library, 146 S. Fifth St., will hold Wee Make Music for children 1 to 3 1/2 years old and their caregivers from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Attendees will sing, drum and dance with Miss Victoria.

• HUGHESVILLE — The Hughesville Area Public Library, 146 S. Fifth St., will hold preschool story time for children ages 3-6 and their parents or caregivers from 10:30-11:15. There will be songs and stories, art exploration and make and take crafts.

• The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society, 858 W. Fourth St., will hold the “YesterShoppe!” indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Donation of items are needed. The items will be accepted at the museum from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m,. Tuesdays through Fridays. The only items not accepted are clothing and magazines. Pick up may be possible if arranged ahead of time.

• EAST CANTON — Rekindle the Spirit will hold a blacksmith class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm Blacksmith Shop, Route 414 at East Canton Crossroad.

Merle Eiffert, blacksmith, will instruct the course.

Participants will make an item of their choosing during the class.

There is a cost and registration is required by May 30.

• MONROETON — The second Stone Mountain Machine Gun Shoot and Gun Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow at Shooters Gauntlet, 898 Golden Mile Road.

Activities include shooting 50 big machine guns on the 1100 yard range, shooting upside down on an inversion rack, taking an assault hike and shooting a handgun from a zipline.

There also will be various manufacturers, retailers and suppressor gurus available. A raffle will be held to win a EDC shield pack with ultra-light armor. All proceeds benefit Hiring Heroes. There is a cost, and weekend passes are available.

• Christian author, Kristy Phillips, will hold a book signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christian Light Bookstore, 1009 Washington Blvd.

• WELLSBORO — Author Kevin Coolidge will read from his new book, “The Totally Ninja Raccoons Meet Bigfoot,” at 1 p.m. at the Green Free Library, 134 Main St.

• A local group of advocates will host Pat LaMarche for a book reading at 2 p.m. at the Pajama Factory, 1307 Park Ave. A question and answer session will follow the reading.

LaMarche, a former vice presidential candidate, will present her book “Left Out in America,” which explores homelessness in the United States, and documents her journey having slept in 14 homeless shelters throughout the country over a two-week period.

JUNE 4

• TROUT RUN — The Rider Rattler Trail Race will be held at 9 a.m. at Rider Park, 1769 Caleb Creek Road.

There will be a 5K or 10K trail run option. There is a cost for registration. Post-race food will be provided by Acme Barbecue. Prizes will be awarded in six age groups. Registration is required by May 31.

• COGAN STATION — The spring meeting of the Blooming Grove Historical Society and Cemetery will be held at 2 p.m. at the Blooming Grove’s 1828 Meetinghouse, 297 Dunkard Church Road. The group will discuss “The Quincentennial of the Protestant Reformation and the Lycoming Dunkards.”

• HUGHESVILLE — The Hughesville Area Public Library, 146 S. Fifth St., will hold the Busy Bee Art Club for children 18 months to 3 1/2 and their parents or caregivers from 10:30-11:30 a.m. This station-based art activity encourages participants to make choices, develop their language skills and hone fine motor skills.
