Stone Church annual open house

The Montgomery Area Historical Society is having its annual spring open house from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Christ Lutheran “Stone” Church, Montgomery.

Christ Lutheran “Stone” Church and Cemetery will be open to the public.

Visitors should use the entrance next to the golf course and follow signs to the church.

Larry Stout, Montgomery Area Historical Society president, will present a program about American Pulitzer prize winning author Conrad Richter at 2:45 p.m.

Richter used to live in Montgomery, and locations like the Stone Church, Alvira, Deckertown and other nearby locations are often featured in his writing.

Recently, the Montgomery Area Historical Society acquired a collection of Richter’s works, including some personally autographed and first editions.
