Save or spend: 4 most popular high-end mascaras
Walking into any makeup store you will see Photoshopped images of long, thick eyelashes that touch the model’s eyebrows. In reality, those results are not always the case thanks to false lashes.
Over the last year I have been testing out some of the most popular high end mascaras on the market.
I have tried the Too Faced Better Than Sex, IT Cosmetics Superhero, Urban Decay Perversion and Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Lash Paint.
My favorite of the bunch is the Tarteist Lash Paint. I immediately fell in love with this mascara the moment I coated my lashes with its beautiful formula. There was no smudging or flaking with this mascara.
For my lashes, I want them to have volume, length and be separated; this mascara does just that.
It has a plastic, spikey brush that is basically a magic wand. If you love dramatic lashes, this product is definitely worth the splurge.
One that is middle of the road for me is the Urban Decay Perversion. It gives volume but not much length due to its traditional style brush. I usually pair this with a curling mascara to get my lashes how I want them to be.
It does not smudge or flake off so it is great for bottom lashes. I would recommend it for awesome lower lashes but I would not repurchase it.
Now the comments I am about to make will possibly get me shunned from the beauty community but I will take the risk. The Too Faced Better Than Sex is not worth the hype.
This is my least favorite of all four mascaras.
I got a sample of it in a beauty subscription bag last year which at the time was incredibly exciting since loads of people raved about how amazing it was.
Never believe anything until you try it for yourself.
It did not work for me at all no matter how hard I tried to like it. I wasn’t even trying to love it, I just wanted to be friends. Nothing serious at all.
We could not make it work. The mascara did not give me the volume that I was looking for and it would flake all over my face. It looked like I had black freckles it was that bad.
From my experience I would not recommend spending money on this.
The IT Cosmetics Superhero has been incredibly hyped up as well but for a good reason.
I recently got this and have been really enjoying it. It gives great volume and length, it does not smudge or flake and lasts all day.
The formula is not too wet or dry, it is right in the middle. It has a thin, bristle brush which allows you to coat every lash with beautiful product.
I give this two thumbs up and a spot on my makeup-to-buy-when-I-have-a-coupon list.
